The Family of God
The scriptural basis of our adoption into the Family of God and the
implications of that act.
Believer Adopted
Into the Family of God
De. 14:2 “For thou art a holy people unto the Lord they God, and
the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the
nations that are upon the earth.” (Isaiah 43:1) (1 Peter 2:9)
Is. 63:16 “Doubtless thou art our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of
us, and Israel
acknowledge us not; thou, O Lord, art our Father, our redeemer, thy name is
from everlasting.”
John 1:12 “But as many as received the spirit of Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His
name.”
Romans 8:15 “For ye have not
received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit
of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
2 Cor 6:18 “And I will be a
father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord
Almighty.”
Gal 3:26 “For ye are all the
children of God by faith in Jesus Christ.”
Gal 4:5 “to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive
the adoption of the sons.”
Gal 4:6 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His
son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father.”
Ephesians 1:5 “having predestined us unto the adoption of children by
Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.”
Spiritual
relationships within the Family of God
Obedience secures the benefits of;
Mt. 12:50 “For whosoever
shall do the will of My father which is in heaven, the same is My brother,
and sister and mother.”
Lu. 8:21 “And He answered and
said unto them, My mother and My brethren are these which hear the Word of
God and do it.”
Heirship with Christ entailed in our adoption
Romans 8:17 “And if [you are
adopted as] children, then [you are also] heirs, heirs of God, and
joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be
also glorified together.”
Romans 9:26 “And it shall
come to pass, that in the place where it said unto them, “Ye are not my
people;” there shall they be called the children of the living
God.”
